I thought the simulator was good for preparing to sit for a 3 hour exam since it had been a while for me. Two weeks before the test I also bought the Prepcast PMI-ACP Exam Simulator.

This class was EXTREMELY helpful in understanding the world of scrum, which was prevalent on the exam. However, between the two I think that Mike Griffiths' book was definitely more useful. While preparing for the exam, my company had an internal two-day CSM certification training that I was invited to attend about two weeks before my exam date. This book was much easier to read than the aforementioned Exam Prep and did a good job of describing the roles, responsibilities, and meetings involved in all of the different agile methodologies in a more lighthearted manner. Once I had finished going through the PMI-ACP Exam Prep I read through the Head First Agile book that was recommended by my manager. This did a good job of filling in any detail gaps in the overview that I got from the Udemy course.

The course was good for exposure and gaining familiarity with the terminology and fulfilled the contact hours requirement to take the exam.Īfter the Udemy course I broke out Mike Griffiths' PMI-ACP Exam Prep book. It took me about a week to get through the course, spending about an hour or two each day watching videos and taking a few notes. I started out with the Joseph Phillips Udemy course that I got on sale and threw it on 1.5x speed.

My company offered to pay for the certification and training materials, but not for retakes, so I wanted to make sure that I passed my first attempt to avoid paying for a retake. The last 8 months of that being in a hybrid agile environment. I figured I would post my experience here to pay it forward.īackground: I'm a 2019 college graduate with about 2.5 years of experience in govt consulting. I passed the PMI-ACP exam last week and used this subreddit to find study resources and strategies.
